Abstract

|
Intrahepatic abscess still has had a significant diagnostic and therapeutic problem inspite of the availability of traditional surgical approach with proper antibiotic therapy.
CT for three-dimentional anatomic detail provides the easiest and safest method for cath-eter insertion and that the majority of intrahepatic abscess have a safe percutaneous route and are amenable to catheter drainage.
This paper concerns our one-year experience with this method at Incheon Christian Hospi-tal from July 1983 to June 1984, which has alternative procedure to surgical drainage under the general anesthesia.
We consider that percutaneous catheter drainage under CT guide is an effective method for initial treatment of intrahepatic abscess in selected patient when sectional imaging demons-trates an accessible lesion.
